Musician and artist, Siuan McGahan was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, but moved to L.A. as teen. As a wee girl, she rebelled against her rebel lineage by trying to be practical. Siuan started college at 15 and majored in math and philosophy. After college, she went to work in engineering at NASA (JPL). Siuan also dabbled briefly in visual effects (even moving to New Zealand to work on Lord of the Rings). All the while, she painted and fantasized about making music. She soon realized that though she would love to be a renaissance woman and truly do it all- she would always be a hobbyist if she didn't throw caution to the wind and leave practicality behind.
So, one fine day, Siuan left her job behind. She painted profusely, bought an electric guitar, learned two chords and started a punk band (called The Renders). She didn't want to be a cover band, so she started writing songs. Once she started writing songs, all of the prior tangents and ruminations in her life, started to come together and make sense. She was finally happy!
Learning while doing with The Renders, Siuan opened for The Bangles, was featured on the Tyra Banks show, received airplay on Indie 103.1 etc and her song "The Bed we Made" placed 2nd in American Songwriter magazine's lyric writing contest... Her songs have been known to make audiences burst into fits of laughter and sometimes tears. Her voice is distinct and breathtaking and her lyrics leave people asking "how does she come up with this stuff?" She has been compared to Marianne Faithful, Kirsty MacColl, Chrissie Hynde, The Rentals... Her music has been described as completely original, somewhere between the Go Go's meets Bruce Springsteen! The comparisons are diverse and she is flattered by them all.
Siuan is currently in the studio working on her long-awaited solo project. Stay tuned!!
Siuan is endorsed by Daisy Rock guitars.
