The Words © 2008 Siuan McGahan

You heard lilac, I heard shades of grey
a filtered static, my favorite come what may
then from that cave, my hands untied
you led the way and I complied
with one mixtape and Georgia O
those songs weren’t playin on my radio
How could I have known, if only I had known

With just a radio, how could I know
So absurd I only heard, heard
a mere shadow, the world I’d known
and still I knew the words

A faint impression flickered on that wall
fanned the flames of some deep rooted call
My eagle ears and interest piqued
my mind is numb, my knees are weak
from what I hear, a pretty mess
The sheep is wearing someone else’s dress
Should I hold my breath, should I hold my breath

With just a radio, how could I know
So absurd I only heard
a mere shadow, the world I’d known
and still I knew the words
